A Government Purchase Card (GPC) is a charge card used by the U.S. government to pay for goods and services. The GPC program aims to make the purchasing process more efficient by reducing paperwork and the need for multiple purchase orders. GPCs are the preferred payment method for micro-purchases, which are purchases of $10,000 or less.
The Government Purchase Card (GPC) mission is to streamline payment procedures and reduce the administrative burden associated with purchasing supplies and services. The GPC provides “on the spot” purchasing, receiving, and payment authority for individuals other than contracting or purchasing officers. DFAS Accounting Systems GPC Program helps to develop and maintain an interface for automated receipt, processing of GPC invoices, and automated posting of obligations in accordance with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) ANSI X12 standards.
