Please note: DFAS does not have in-person service centers at any of our locations. Retiree payday is December 1, 2023. Annuitant payday is December 1, 2023.

2024 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)

Based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index, there is a 3.2 percent Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for most retired pay and Survivor Benefit Plan annuities, effective December 1, 2023.

Retirees will see the change in their December 31, 2023 payment and annuitants in their January 2, 2024 payment.

NDAA 2023 SBP Open Season Important Deadline - Open Season Enrollment and Discontinuance Forms must be RECEIVED before midnight Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2024

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2023 includes a Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) Open Season. The SBP Open Season began December 23, 2022 and ends on January 1, 2024.

The SBP Open Season allows for retirees receiving retired pay, eligible members, or former members awaiting retired pay who are currently NOT participating in SBP or RCSBP (Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan) to enroll. It also allows for eligible member and former members who are currently participating in either SBP or RCSBP to permanently discontinue their SBP coverage.

Please contact your TRICARE regional contract. DFAS cannot set up these allotments. They must be set up by TRICARE through the regional contractors. Please note: only Retirees can set up allotments from their pay. Allotments cannot be paid from SBP or SSIA annuity pay.
