Getting into myPay after you separate

 
As you prepare to leave service whether as a military member or federal civilian employee, it's important to update your myPay account so you can easily access your pay and tax information without your smart card (CAC or PIV). You'll have access to your myPay account for 15 months after you leave service. Take the following steps 30 days before you separate and try to log into your account using a personal device.
 
  1. Access your myPay account at https://mypay.dfas.mil/
  2. Review your Personal Settings page for accuracy and update outdated information
    • Establish or update your Login ID and Password
      • Remember, you won't have your smart card after you separate so this is how you'll access your account after you leave service.
    • Review and update your Mobile Phone
      • Your mobile phone number may be used to receive important messages as well as one-time PINs needed for two-factor authentication.
    • Add a personal Email Address and designate it as Primary
      • Your personal email address may be used to receive important messages as well as one-time PINs needed for two-factor authentication.
    • Update your Security Questions for passwords resets
      • Your questions and answers will be used when you need a new myPay Password
    • Review and update your Two-Factor Authentication contact method to something other than your workplace/government email address.
      • You may choose to use an authenticator app, your mobile phone number or your personal email address.
  3. Review and update bank and address information available in your Pay Changes section of your myPay account 
    1. Update your Mailing Address
      • Active duty Army and Navy members - contact your personnel or finance office to make changes in your mailing address.
    2. Update your Direct Deposit
      • Ensure the right account is on record for receiving your final pay.
  4. Save/print a copy of your pay and tax Statements for your records.
