File a Freedom of Information Act Appeal

If DFAS denied your FOIA request fully or in part, you have the right to appeal the determination to our agency appellate authority.

• Appeal must be postmarked within 90 calendar days of the date of our denial letter
• You must include:
  • Denial letter
  • Statement as to why your appeal should be granted
• Clearly mark ‘FOIA Appeal’ on all correspondence
