The Direct Express® Debit MasterCard® card offers you a safe and secure way to receive your monthly federal benefit payment(s) without maintaining a bank account. You can have your Department of Defense benefit payment deposited directly to your Direct Express® card.

To have your Department of Defense benefits paid on a Direct Express® card, you must complete all fields marked “required” on the enrollment form (FMS Form 1201DFAS ). Once you have completed the form, please mail it to:

IMPORTANT: Once your Direct Express® enrollment has been processed, you will receive a letter containing your card and instructions from the U.S. Treasury Electronic Payment Solution Center. These instructions will direct you to:
1) Activate your card by calling the number provided by Treasury with your new debit card.
2) Initiate payment to your card by calling DFAS at 1-800-321-1080 (select option 1). You can also go online to use our secure online form. Whether you call or go online, you must authorize Defense Finance and Accounting Service to begin making payments to your card. We cannot switch your payments to the Direct Express® card until we receive authorization from you.
When your card has been activated, and you have authorized DFAS to make payments to it, you will begin receiving your payment safely on time, every time each month on your Direct Express® card.
