Todd C. Hansen, Director, DFAS Japan
Todd C. Hansen is the Director, of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Japan. He manages accounting and disbursing services to customers in the Western Pacific, including the U.S. Treasury, Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Information System Agency, Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. He leads a workforce of US Civilian and Japanese Foreign Nationals responsible for processing over 32,000 invoices, 8.1 million accounting transactions, and $1.6 billion in disbursements last year.
Until March 2019, Mr. Hansen was the Director, Enterprise Project Solution at DFAS-Indianapolis where he managed the agency’s Lean6, Project Management, Change Management, Survey Management, and Acquisition Support programs. He provided program management, project management, process improvement, and contract support services to the agency’s strategic priorities and over 11,000 employees, accounting for 541 projects, $9.3 million in savings, and 367 acquisitions in FY18.
From July 2014 to April 2016, Mr. Hansen was the Deputy Director, Military Pay Operations – Indianapolis. He led operations and provided financial management and military payroll services to the over 530,000 members of U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard.
From May 2013 to July 2014, Mr. Hansen was the Director, Travel Pay Operations - Indianapolis. He managed travel pay services, payment processing, and support to 12 Naval Commands, seven Department of Defense Agencies, and all traditional, contingency operations, dependent and Wounded Warrior travelers of the U.S. Army Reserves disbursing over 8,000 payments and $10 million monthly.
From May 2009 to April 2013, Mr. Hansen served as the Chief, Systems Liaison & Procedures Division, Military Pay Operations-Air Force. Mr. Hansen led the Very-Important-Person, Wounded Warrior, Major Command Liaison and military pay policy programs.
Mr. Hansen joined DFAS in September 1992 after serving on active duty in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hansen continued his service in the Army Reserves and retired with 20 years of service. He held many leadership positions, and served on combat and contingency tours during Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom earning numerous military awards and citations.
Mr. Hansen holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Marian University and a Master’s of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mr. Hansen is a Certified Defense Financial Manager and Lean6 Black Belt.
