Stacy Son, Deputy Director, DFAS  Columbus

Ms. Stacy Son serves as Deputy Site Director for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) in Columbus, Ohio. In this executive role, she assists in managing the day-to-day operations of 2,100 accounting and finance professionals in support of the United States Air Force, Space Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Defense Agencies, in addition to overseeing operations for the DFAS Limestone site.
 
Before entering the Senior Executive Service in 2022, Ms. Son was the Director of Accounting and Finance Operations at DFAS Columbus. There, she oversaw nine operational mission areas and executed an annual budget exceeding $125 million. She provided strategic leadership for site operations related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Maintenance and Control, Departmental Reporting and Customer Care. As part of the Accounts Payable mission, she was responsible for one of the largest contract pay operations in the Department of Defense, with an average of 280,000 active contracts and annual disbursements of $220 billion per year. 

Ms. Son joined DFAS in March 2008. From that time through 2022, she has held a variety of positions with increasing accountability and leadership responsibilities. Her assignments have provided her a broad depth of experiences in accounting, finance, disbursing, project management and organizational leadership.  
 
Ms. Son holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Ohio University.  She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Operations Management from The Ohio State University, where she was also a Weidler Scholar for her distinguished academic performance.   She supports the financial management community as a member, past chapter president, and current president elect of the American Society of Military Comptrollers Buckeye Chapter.  She is a certified public accountant and a certified coach.
