DFAS Schedule A Database

The DFAS Schedule A database is for applicants and current DFAS employees. Below is step-by-step instructions on how to enroll in the database if you decide to place your information in the system.

What to include

1. Resume. Ensure it includes to and from month and year for each position as well as the average number of hours worked per week for each position.
2. Transcripts. Provide all School transcripts. For qualification purposes, this may be unofficial transcripts, however if you are offered a position, you will need to produce official transcripts for any positions that require a positive education requirement.
3. Schedule A Letter. Letters must contain the name, signature, contact information of the signer and must be prepared on office letterhead. Note: The letter should not include any identifying medical information regarding your diagnosis as we cannot keep it on file because it would violate HIPAA. Find sample letters on the OPM website. Also, 5 CFR 2103.3102 requires this document be signed by a
   1. Licensed physician
   2. Certified vocational rehabilitation specialist
   3. Federal or state agency such as the Social Security Administration or Veterans Affairs that issue or provide disability benefits.
4. Questionnaire.This questionnaire lets us know a little bit about you and your preferences so that we can make the best matches possible.
5. DD214 and VA disability letter. If you are a Veteran, send copies of these if you have them. Note: The disability letter should only include the amount to disability and not diagnosis information.

What Happens Next

Your questionnaire will be processed once all required documentation arrives.

• A Human Resources Specialist to determine qualification for the program
• If found qualified for the grades or series requested, your name will be added to a Schedule A Applicant Supply File.
• Human Resources will notify you of your qualified series and grades.

USA Jobs

Once an announcement is posted on USA Jobs, you must apply directly on the website. You can apply to positions listed on USA jobs, and note those identified as open to Schedule A Applicants.

DFAS Hiring Managers

• All DFAS hiring managers have the option to request any local Schedule A applicants who match a current vacancy without posting the position to USA Jobs. If requested, Human Resource Specialists will provide your resume on file.
• The hiring managers may contact you directly.

Expiration

DFAS keeps your information on file for six months. It you do not request your file remain active, it will expire.
