Roth TSP available for Reserve, Guard members
(DFAS Headquarters, Oct. 22, 2013) – Some reserve and National Guard members began adding the Roth TSP option to their investment plans after the Defense Finance and Accounting Service updated its pay system October 1, 2013.
According to DFAS officials, changes to the Defense Joint Military Pay System (Reserve Component) were made and tested to ensure members’ submitted contribution elections are processed accurately. The myPay online pay management system has also been updated to allow reserve and National Guard members to start and manage their Roth TSP contributions.
Information on the DFAS website encourages reserve and Guard members to do their homework in understanding their current pay situation, future bonus or one-time payments, and their investment plans in developing contribution percentages. Worksheets, forms and other planning aids are available at http://www.dfas.mil/militarymembers/rothtspformilitary/rothtsprc.html.
Additional information about the Thrift Savings Plan and the Roth TSP option is available at www.tsp.gov.
