Mary Legree-Ford, Director, Office of Equal Opportunity ProgramsMary Legree-Ford has served as the Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs (OEOP) at Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) since 2007. In this capacity she directs all EEO and diversity programs and services for the agency’s 13,400 employees to include a continuing affirmative employment program, development of a Model EEO Program, oversight of the agency’s Special Emphasis Programs, EEO training, disability management, reasonable accommodation program and EEO advisory and consulting services.
Ms. Legree-Ford has 25 years of federal government experience. She has worked for DFAS since 1993. She has worked as a Personnel Security Specialist and as the Chief of Building Security at the agency’s Major General Emmet J. Bean Federal Center in Indianapolis, IN, where she was responsible for the physical security of 1.6 million square feet of federal tenant space. She has held a variety of positions within the EEO organization to include EEO specialist and manager positions and as the EEO Officer at DFAS Indianapolis where she oversaw the agency-wide consolidation of all EEO complaint processing activities into the Centralized Complaint Processing Center at Indianapolis.
Prior to beginning her career with the DFAS, Legree-Ford served with the US Army from 1985 to 1992. During this time she completed two years of enlisted service and then was selected through a competitive process to attend the Army’s Officer Candidate School at Ft Benning, GA, where she received her commission as an Adjutant General Corps (AGC) Officer. She is a graduate of the AGC Basic and Advanced Officer Courses and while on active duty she served tours in Germany and Seoul, South Korea. Her active duty awards include the Army Commendation Medal (2 oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
A native of South Carolina, Legree-Ford earned her Master’s Degree from Ball State University, Muncie, IN, and her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC.
