Larry Lovelette, Director, DFAS EuropeLarry A. Lovelette is the Director, Defense Finance and Accounting Service Limestone, in Limestone, Maine. DFAS Limestone is responsible for providing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounts maintenance and control support to all of the operational Air Force, including Air Combat Command, Air Education and Training Command,Air Force Central Command, Air Force District of Washington, Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Force Reserve Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Air Mobility Command, Pacific Air Forces (except that part west of the International Date Line served by DFAS Japan), U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air National Guard and U.S. Transportation Command (including Military Sealift Command and Surface Deployment and Distribution Command).

Immediately prior to his present position, Mr. Lovelette was the Director of DFAS Europe, responsible for providing exemplary customer service and finance and accounting support for the Department of Defense activities DFAS sites, and European vendors.

Before assuming the DFAS Europe Director position, Mr. Lovelette was the Deputy Director for Transformation at DFAS Limestone where he provided knowledge, guidance, and insight on major initiatives being deployed in support of the DFAS transformation vision at DFAS Limestone. Mr. Lovelette also served as the project manager for database realignment/consolidation initiatives impacting the accounting and finance systems supporting the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Lovelette has also served as the Command Client Executive for Air Combat Command where he acted as the principal DFAS financial management advisor and on-site representative to the Comptroller, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va. He provided support and advice that improved finance and accounting business processes impacting ACC.

A native of Presque Isle, Maine, Mr. Lovelette entered public service in 1978 when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a Financial Services apprentice assigned to the Directorate of Retired Pay, Air Force Accounting and Finance Center, Denver, Colo.

In 1995, Mr. Lovelette joined the ranks of DFAS where he served as an accounting technician, systems accountant, and supervisory accountant at the Limestone and European field sites. Mr. Lovelette is a Certified Defense Financial Manager, earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Husson College, and is a past president of the American Society of Military Comptrollers’ Crown of Maine Chapter.
