Rebecca Beck, Director Strategy and Support, DFAS

Mrs. Rebecca Beck serves as the Director, Strategy and Support, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).  Mrs. Beck is responsible for shaping and overseeing the strategic direction and operational support of the agency to ensure mission alignment and operational excellence. In this role, she oversees a broad range of mission support functions critical to agency effectiveness, to include: Resource Management, Information and Technology, Acquisition, Policy, Corporate Communications, Legislative Liaison, Human Capital, Equal Employment Opportunity, Lean6, Project Management, Force Protection, and the DFAS Human Resources Regional Service Center, which services personnel spanning both DFAS and the Defense Agencies as well as DoD Field Activities.

In her previous role as the Director, Enterprise Solutions and Standards (ESS) from 2021-2025, Mrs. Beck was responsible for providing financial management services and standard enterprise solutions to support the Department of Defense (DoD) mission and the DFAS customers. This included developing finance and accounting goals and standards; overseeing the preparation of the $3.8T DoD consolidated financial statements, maintaining the $1.8T investment portfolio for DoD’s large trust and special funds, providing enterprise audit support and oversight of the DoD-wide full financial statement audit.  Mrs. Beck led efficiency and standardization efforts for finance pay areas, including military payroll (2.1M accounts / $141B annually) and civilian payroll (1.4M transactions / $181B annually).  Additionally, Mrs. Beck drove business modernization in support of DoD strategy which included development, deployment and sustainment of emerging systems; business capability and process modeling; reduction of legacy systems; use of data analytics to drive informed business decisions; and delivery of process automations.

From 2019-2021, Mrs. Beck was the Director, Accounting Standards and Reporting, DFAS. She led a professional staff that provided enterprise-wide accounting oversight and guidance as well as prepared and submitted the consolidated financial statements on behalf of the Department of Defense.
Mrs. Beck previously held the role of Chief Financial Officer and Director of Resource Management from 2018-2019. Mrs. Beck served as the senior agency financial manager and advisor, providing management of the daily financial operations for DFAS. She was responsible for the development, management, and direction of finance and accounting policy. Mrs. Beck oversaw a comprehensive resource management program for the agency's $1.4B annual budget, while also supporting the DFAS financial statement audit requirements and fiscal services.

Mrs. Beck also served as the Deputy Director, DFAS Columbus site from 2014-2018, responsible for managing the facilities and logistical administration for 2,400 federal employees providing a range of finance and accounting services to the U.S. Department of the Air Force (AF) and 11 Defense Agencies (DA).  She oversaw accounting and financial operations, which included a customer call center, systems operations, and client liaison services.
Mrs. Beck holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting from Ohio State University.

Mrs. Beck has served in various capacities within DFAS Columbus. Her diverse assignments have included Finance Director; Director of Accounts Payable, Acquisition; Marine Corps and DA Support Director; Contract Pay Director; Division Chief for North Entitlement and Contract Management, and Support Director for the DA and Marine Corps, ensuring accurate and timely input of contractual data, accurate and timely payments to respective contractors, and field level accounting support.
