Submit
transcripts (official or unofficial) or some form of proof of your
education if you are using education to substitute for experience
or to meet the positive education requirement for positions such as
for accounting or auditing. Documents that are acceptable include
unofficial transcripts, or a list of courses, grades earned,
completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Your
current name and the last four digits of your social
security number must be on the transcript or proof of
education. Please see the vacancy announcement to see whether you
can or need to submit a transcript.
Once selected and prior to appointment, you will be
required to submit official transcripts. Transcripts will only be
accepted from an accredited institution. An official transcript is
one that includes the college or university registrar's (or other
authorized official's) signature, seal or stamp. A photocopy of the
transcript(s) is acceptable as long as the signature, seal or stamp
is clearly legible. Grade reports are NOT considered official
transcripts. To determine if your school is accredited and
recognized by the U.S. Department of Education refer to the OPM and U.S.
Department of Education websites for a list of accredited
schools.
If you attended a foreign college or university, you
need to send, along with your transcripts, a letter from a private
organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign
education credentials. The letter needs to state whether the
courses are at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S.
education programs. For a list of evaluators, you may go to National Association of Credential
Evaluation Services .
Proof of your education must be submitted by the
closing date of the announcement. For announcements open longer
than a month (extended announcements have an "XX" or "NX" as a
prefix), the transcript(s) should be submitted as soon as possible
as positions may be filled over the length of the announcement. If
proof of education has not been received by the closing date, or by
the date your resume is reviewed for a job filled from an extended
announcement, your resume will be deemed incomplete and you will
lose consideration for the position(s).
Applicant's transcripts will not be returned once
submitted. You may submit copies of transcripts as long as the
university registrar's signature, seal or stamp appears on the
form.
If you have a DFAS Resume Builder Account and you
already submitted your transcript, you do not need to send another
copy unless you have completed additional courses for which you
wish to receive credit. Transcripts are scanned and attached to
your DFAS Resume Builder account.
