Acceptable
Documentation
If transcripts or proof of education are required at the time of
application by the vacancy announcement, the following
documentation is acceptable:

Unofficial
transcripts

A list of courses, grades earned,
completion dates, and quarter/semester hours earned

Requirements

Your current name and the last
four digits of your social security number must be on the
transcript or proof of education
-
Transcripts will only be accepted
from an accredited institution. To determine if your school is
accredited and recognized by the U.S. Department of Education refer
to the
OPM
and
U.S. Department of Education
websites for a list of accredited
schools.

If you attended a foreign college
or university, you also need to send a letter from a private
organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign
education credentials. The letter needs to state whether the
courses are at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S.
education programs. For a list of evaluators, you may go to
National Association of Credential Evaluation

.

Follow the instructions on the
announcement's How to Apply tab for submitting
documentation.
Once selected and prior to
appointment, you will be required to submit official transcripts.
The following documentation is acceptable:

Official transcripts including
the college or university registrar's (or other authorized
official's) signature, seal or stamp.

A photocopy of the transcript(s)
is acceptable as long as the signature, seal or stamp is clearly
legible.
-
Grade reports are NOT considered
official transcripts.
When are Transcripts
Required?
ALWAYS read the How to Apply tab
of the vacancy announcement and follow the instructions for
submitting transcripts. If required, proof of your education must
be submitted by the closing date of the announcement. For open
continuous announcements, the transcript(s) should be submitted at
the time you apply. If required proof of education has not been
received by the closing date, or by the date your resume is
reviewed for an open continuous announcement, your application will
be deemed incomplete and you will lose consideration for the
position(s).
Vacancies open to the
public through the
Delegated Examining Unit
(DEU)
:
Transcripts are required
if
-
You are using a combination of
education and experience to qualify for a position.
-
You are meeting an education
requirement for positions such as Accounting or
Auditing.
-
These requirements apply to DFAS
and non-DFAS employees for all positions announced through the
DEU.
Accountant (GS-510) and
Auditor (GS-511) positions announced through
merit promotion procedures
:
Transcripts are
NOT required if
-
You are a DFAS employee currently
employed in a GS-510 or GS-511 position.
-
You are a current or former DFAS
employees who have held a DFAS 510/511 position at some point
during the time frame of 2006-present.
-
You have been referred on a DFAS
certificate for a GS-510 or GS-511 position at some point during
the time frame of 2006-present.
All other positions
announced through
merit promotion procedures
:
Transcripts are required
if
-
You are using a combination of
education and experience to qualify for a position.
-
You are meeting an education
requirement for positions such as GS-1102 Contracting
series.
-
You are applying for a DFAS
Accounting or Auditing positions and do not meet one of the
exceptions described above for submitting transcripts
Submission
DFAS is currently transitioning to
a new system for accepting applications. Follow the instructions in
the announcement's How to Apply tab for submitting
documentation.
If applying through USA
Staffing Application Manager, you must upload your
transcripts into your USAJOBS or USA Staffing account and submit
them at the time of application.
If applying through the
DFAS Resume Builder or DEU Resume Builder,
transcripts or proof of education can be mailed, sent via
AskHR
or hand delivered. Please see specific instructions below.

Each attachment can be no larger than 2 Megabites (2000 KB). Please
name each attachment as T-the last four digits of your social
security number- page number example: T-6789-1, and if transcripts
are under a different name, please include your current name on all
attachments.
