Timothy Kuhl, Director, DFAS Europe

Mr. Kuhl is the Director, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Europe. He oversees a variety of accounting and pay functions comprised of local national pay, foreign vendor payments, customer service inquiries, and disbursing functions within the European theater of operations. Additional areas under his oversight include the Wounded Warrior pay office chartered with providing critical human, accurate, real-time pay account support, and education to Wounded Warriors and their family members . He is the senior DFAS representative in Europe.

Prior to his selection as the Director of DFAS Europe, Mr. Kuhl was the Director of Security Cooperation Accounting (SCA)/Foreign Military Sales (FMS) located in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Mr. Kuhl served honorably for six months as a deployed DoD civilian attached to the US State Department in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He was the Deputy Comptroller of the Program and Contracting Office.

Mr. Kuhl began his career as an intern with the US Army Information Systems Command, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. Subsequent assignments after completing the intern program include:

  • Senior Managerial Accountant managing International Military Education Training programs at the US Army Medical Command (MEDCOM), Ft. Sam Houston, Texas;
  • Senior Staff Accountant for policy and oversight at the US Army Signal Command, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona.

His awards and significant recognitions include the Meritorious Civilian Service award, Joint Meritorious Unit award, Civilian Achievement award (2 awards), Global War on Terrorism service award and the State of Indiana Federal Employee of the year (Professional and Scientific category).

His educational background includes studies as a foreign exchange student at the University of London and a degree in Cost Accounting from Northern Arizona University. Mr. Kuhl is a graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, executive fellows
