myPay preparing for Spring 2014 release
INDIANAPOLIS (May 14, 2014) – myPay, the online self-service pay management system of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service for military members, military retirees and many federal civilian employees, will feature easier access and new financial reports following its upgrade scheduled for May 17.
Revised rules will simplify creating and updating passwords similar to those used throughout the online banking industry while maintaining DFAS’ commitment to system and personal security.
The rules still meet the intent of DoD cyber security rules, but passwords can now be shorter and will last longer between changes.
Other changes available in the May 17 release include:
- Ability to add a second Direct Deposit account to provide an alternative method for Sailors and Airmen to receive travel and miscellaneous payment.
- Soldiers and Airmen will receive annual Personal Statements of Military Compensation that combines pay with benefits values to more accurately show what military service is worth.
- Army, Air Force and Marine Corps Junior ROTC instructors can access their Leave and Earning Statements online rather than wait for mail delivery.
- Expansion of the service’s customer base for employees of the Military Sealift Command when that organization joins more than 6.6 million other DFAS payroll customers on June 9.
More information on the myPay Spring 2014 release and the new password requirements is available at the DFAS website (http://www.dfas.mil/dfas/mypayinfo.html).
