In this capacity, she oversees the enterprise communications strategy for more than 12,000 employees at 13 locations throughout the United States, Europe and the Pacific and all customers. The Corporate Communications mission is to deliver effective, consistent communications support for DFAS. In this role, they provide information using a variety of internal and external vehicles including Web, video, print and all forms of media. Ms. Olson also oversees the legislative liaison function and the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act programs.
Ms. Olson has worked for DFAS since 1991. Prior to that she worked for the Army and served as the Editor of the Army's Resource Management Journal. Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Olson spent almost 20 years in Human Resources, serving as the first overseas HR Lead for DFAS Europe, the Client Executive liaison for the DFAS Director's Office and all corporate organizations, and the agency's first HR Operating Location lead, among other things.
She graduated from Franklin College with honors, earning a double major in Journalism and English. Ms. Olson also holds a master's degree from Indiana University in Public Affairs and completed the Federal Executive Institute in Charlotte, Virginia; the Office Of Personnel Management's Senior Leaders' Course and the Military Comptroller School at Maxwell Air Force Base.
