Permanent Change of Station (PCS)
Civilian Resource Guide
The information on this site is designed to provide general travel guidance. It is not designed to address every situation and is not an authoritative source. If you need further guidance contact your Human Resource Office (HRO). Complete details regarding travel may be found in the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) web site.
If you are relocating from one location within the Continental U.S. (CONUS) to another CONUS location, refer to the PCS CONUS Resource Guide. If you are relocating to, from or between overseas locations, refer to the PCS OCONUS Resource Guide.
The first thing you must do is request your official travel orders. Complete the appropriate request for orders form and Transportation Agreement and fax them to your servicing HRO POC as soon as possible. These forms may be found in the respective Resource Guide. To cut down on processing time and to preclude any amendments to your orders, ensure the information you provide is legible and accurate. Note that relocation expenses may NOT be reimbursed until travel orders have been issued.
Information regarding travel claims may be found in the DFAS Columbus, Civilian Pamphlet for Permanent Change of Station. All travel claims should be forwarded to DFAS Columbus.
A PCS move can be a stressful and daunting experience, but if you're well prepared, it may feel almost effortless. Our best advise for you is to take a proactive role, plan ahead, read the information provided and ask questions.
Happy Trails.
