Effective May 15 2008, the Pay and Allowance Continuation
(PAC) program has replaced CIP. CIP was an entitlement payable
prior to May 15 2008 at up to $430 a month. Eligible Wounded
Warriors already receiving HFP are paid $205 a month. Service
Members who were medically evacuated out of a combat zone and
considered "hospitalized" were entitled to CIP. For the purposes
of CIP entitlement, a Wounded Warrior is considered hospitalized if
he/she is admitted as an inpatient or is receiving extensive
rehabilitation as an outpatient while living in quarters affiliated
with the military health care system. An example of these
government quarters is the Fisher house at Walter Reed Army Medical
Center.
Wounded Warriors are still eligible to claim retroactive
periods of CIP qualification. Contact your local finance office if
you believe you should have earned CIP for a time period but did
not receive the entitlement.
