VA Retro Update
The
Disabled Military Retiree Retroactive Pay program, commonly called VA Retro, is
well underway.
Eligible
retirees are those receiving either Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC)
or Concurrent Retirement Disability Payments (CRDP) and have been awarded a
retroactive disability rating increase by the Department of Veterans Affairs
(DVA) since their date of initial entitlement.
Payments
are made by DFAS, DVA or both. In the
four months since payments began, approximately 51,000 retiree cases have been
processed, representing 40 percent of the initial eligible population. Thus
far, VA Retro payments have totaled $54 million.
More
information on the VA Retro program is available at the DFAS Web site. Retirees
can go to www.dfas.mil and click on
Retired Pay. The fact sheet is located under the heading VA Retro/Disabled Military Retiree's Retroactive Pay.
