Retiree Seminars and
Conferences
Are you aware that DFAS participates with
the Services in holding Retiree Seminars throughout the year at various
locations? Below is the list of
remaining retiree seminars that are scheduled in 2006 as well as the seminars
already held.
These seminars are typically one day and provide a forum for updating
retirees and annuitants on retired and annuity pay matters as well as issues
such as legislative updates, TRICARE, and DVA.
Additionally, information booths are usually setup to assist retirees
and annuitants with making account updates. Along with account updates, the
booths assist with other helpful items such as estate planning, discount
programs, MAC flights and other topics of local interest. If you have not had the opportunity to attend
one of these seminars, you might consider putting it on your calendar. Even if you missed the seminar in your area
this year, plan for next year as most of these seminars are repeated annually.

DFAS also makes an ongoing effort to
maintain open communications with the Services and other agencies that impact
the military Retiree and Annuitant population.
DFAS has a monthly conference call with all Services participating. DFAS also hosts an annual Retiree and
Annuitant Pay and Personnel Conference that provides the opportunity for the
Services and other agencies, such as the DVA and the Office of the Secretary
Defense (OSD), to meet and share information.
This information sharing and discussion of important issues affecting
retirees or annuitants helps DFAS develop ways to continuously improve customer
service. The 2006 conference is
scheduled for October 4th and 5th in Cleveland, Ohio.
