From the Director

As the director of Retired and Annuitant Pay for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), and a military retiree myself, I want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our latest communication initiative, the DFAS Retired and Annuitant Newsletter. I believe the newsletter will meet your information needs and enhance the service we provide to the all military retirees and annuitants.

I would like you to take the time to read this newsletter and learn about important information concerning retirees and annuitants that we want to share with you as a valued customer. I'd like to call special attention to the article on myPay and its features that demonstrate our continuing effort to provide the best support to you. Did you know that military retirees who utilize myPay have the capability to view and print their 1099R?  In addition, their electronic 1099R will be available for the entire year on myPay. I would like to urge each and every one of you that knows a military retiree or annuitant that has not signed up for myPay to encourage them to sign up.

Our intent is to provide you with information you can use and we anticipate providing this newsletter to you approximately every four to six weeks.  The Retired and Annuitant Pay Newsletter contains valuable information on legislative changes, topics such as Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), Social Security Offset and End-of-Year Processing.  I hope you share my excitement in this new initiative.
