National Defense Authorization Act:
The
National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006, Public Law 109-163,
was enacted January 6, 2006, and has some provisions that impact military
retired pay.
- Concurrent Receipt of Veterans
Disability Compensation and Military Retired Pay: A retiree who has been rated as
unemployable by the Department of Veterans Affairs will be entitled to
full concurrent receipt effective October 1, 2009.
- Other proposals such as
advancing 30 years paid-up SBP to October 2005 rather than October 2008,
and elimination of the DIC offset for annuitants were not
covered in this legislation.
