DFAS Retired Pay Newsletter

The Director’s Corner by Karl H. Bernhardt

“Welcome to the 8th issue of the DFAS Retired Pay Newsletter.  The one-year open enrollment period for military retirees wishing to participate in the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) will end September 30, 2006.  Potential retroactive pay due for those retirees who are entitled to CRSC or CRDP and have been awarded a retroactive increase in a DVA rated disability will begin receiving payment in September 2006.  In this issue, as a result of numerous responses received, we have provided additional information on the upcoming SBP paid-up cost information.  Thanks to all for your valuable input.  As a reminder, please keep your account status updated.  As year end approaches, it is especially important that your current correspondence address is on file with DFAS.  Information on the End-of-Year Statements has been provided in this issue, along with the upcoming enhancements to our Customer Service Center.”
