Entry Level Financial Analyst Program

The DFAS Entry Level Financial Analyst (ELFA) program will provide you this opportunity. The ELFA program is intended to provide a pool of well-trained and high potential finance professionals and future leaders.
The ELFA program is a progressive, three-year developmental career experience. ALL CANDIDATES MUST BE U.S. CITIZENS. You will be assigned a supervisor who is responsible for your overall program. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple sponsors who will provide meaningful and challenging rotational assignments in their assigned areas. A mentor is assigned to each participant for monthly meetings, mentoring, and coaching. As an employee in the ELFA program, you will participate in a formalized development program, attend meetings with senior managers, present briefings to management, and participate in professional organizations. The entire training experience is designed to develop competencies, such as awareness of the DFAS corporate culture, knowledge of Federal government financial principles and concepts, an understanding of formal reviews, knowledge of ADP and systems, professionalism, leadership, communication skills, and strategic and critical thinking skills.
ELFA employees are an integral part of our agency-wide succession planning efforts. These efforts are designed to ensure that DFAS maintains a highly skilled and diversified pool of candidates for future leadership positions. A significant number of mid and upper-level managers will be eligible for retirement within the next five years. Qualifications
Strongest candidates for this program will have a bachelor’s degree in finance or a related business degree. We are seeking candidates with strong academic achievement and leadership skills. Candidates selected for this program usually possess a grade point average of 3.0 or higher with a finance degree. The entry level for this program is usually GS-7 on the Federal pay scale, with non-competitive promotion potential to the GS-11 level. Salaries will vary by geographic location.
