Image of drill teamIn order to make your transition from the military a smooth one, we have created a list of things you should know  regardless of your branch of service.  Our experience tells us when service members forget to ask the important questions, it can have a negative effect on their separation transition and beyond.

Here is a list of items that should concern you as you prepare for the next phase of your life:

  • You should know about your Travel Allowances
  • You should know about Temporary Lodging Expense
  • Where and how to submit your final travel voucher (DD Form 1351-2)
  • You should know about how your leave is accrued
  • You should know about your Final Pay
  • You should know about your Allotments
  • You should know how you will receive your last LES and W2 (forwarding address)
  • You should know the process for filing a CRDP claim
  • You should talk with your Medical person and obtain a copy of your Medical and Dental records
  • Who to contact if you have questions or concerns
  • You should know about your Taxes (Federal and State)
  • Don't forget to ask questions about documentation; what do you need to submit and when (time frame)
